Wheelchair Sports at the Fest

Category : EVENTS

In our quest to include persons with disabilities at the Washboard Fest, Jeff Williams, Independent Living Advocate at the Southeastern Ohio Center for Independent Living, will be bringing wheelchair basketball, football, and Boccia to the Fest. He will bring wheelchairs and equipment for people to learn how wheelchair sports are played and to try participating in games. If you have or you know someone with a disability who would like to get involved in sports, here’s a chance to learn about it. Usage of a wheelchair on an everyday basis is not necessary to participate. Jeff is also forming Hocking County teams that will practice weekly and play in tournaments. Teams will compete in Columbus at the Hoops Madness Tournament, the Jack Attack Boccia Tournament, and in a Playoff and Super Bowl game against Columbus teams. This exciting activity at the Washboard Fest will be held on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, from 12:00 to 3:00. Go, Hocking County Wheelchair Teams, go! #washboardfest
